"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." So it is that the San Jacinto High Rollers have been flattered (?!) from as far away as Okinawa, Japan. We received the following letter and picture via e-mail in late 1999:
There is a store in Okinawa Japan that sells knock-offs of your
colors. They are tan leather vests that read 'San Jacinto High Rollers
Houston TX.' The center piece doesn't have the monument, just a
single bike....I've been on Okinawa for 5 years and never seen anyone,
Japanese or otherwise wearing one of these vests, but I have seen
them in a store called the "Ammo Box" [last August] (it's a place
where Japanese buy 'American Lifestyle' [stuff])....
